Compact Powerhouse: 2200mAh 45C Turnigy Graphene 3S LiPo Battery Performance Test

When it comes to smaller LiPo packs, performance can vary a lot. In this test, I evaluated the Turnigy Graphene 2200mAh 3S 45C LiPo to see how it performs under real-world RC conditions.

This pack is widely used in RC airplanes, boats, and small cars. It’s one of the most common battery sizes in the hobby so I wanted to put it to the test.

What Makes the Turnigy Graphene 3S LiPo Unique?

The Turnigy Graphene 3S LiPo battery is a compact 2200mAh pack rated at 45C. On paper, it should deliver strong current for its size. In practice, smaller packs can be unpredictable, so I tested it to find out.

Because this pack is designed for light RC models, I used a 65A load—equal to a 29C load. That’s demanding but still safe for a battery this size.

Initial Internal Resistance Testing

I started by measuring internal resistance (IR) using a 1.5C charge rate. The pack showed an average IR of 4.3mΩ across all cells.

Using the 2200mAh capacity and this IR value, I calculated an actual C rating of 25.7C. That means a maximum continuous current of about 57 amps.

These results show good consistency between cells and solid overall quality. For a compact pack, that’s impressive performance.

Performance on the Load Test

I then applied a 65A continuous load, simulating real-world RC use. Here’s how the Turnigy Graphene performed:

  • Voltage Stability: Held around 3.5V per cell at the 10-second mark.
  • Capacity Delivered: Provided 2051mAh of usable capacity before hitting the 3.3V cutoff.
  • Energy Output: Reached 420 watt-minutes total with an average cell wattage of 216W.
  • Temperature: Stayed between 52°C and 54°C, well below my 58°C safety limit.

Compared to larger batteries I’ve tested on the channel, this smaller Graphene pack handled its load exceptionally well. It held voltage longer and showed less sag than expected for its size.

Best Use Cases in the RC World

Given its size, current output, and thermal stability, the Turnigy Graphene 2200mAh 3S The Turnigy Graphene 2200mAh 3S 45C LiPo is ideal for:

  • Park flyer RC airplanes
  • Smaller RC boats
  • 1/16–1/18 scale cars

It’s best suited for lightweight models that need reliable bursts of power. This pack performs well.

Final Thoughts

The Turnigy Graphene 3S 2200mAh 45C LiPo shows that smaller packs can still deliver big results. It performed close to its rated specs with excellent thermal control and voltage stability.
